We offer our students

Who can apply?

Who can come to the school?

Full time

Full-time students should be 18 years old or above in Jan 2023, and can be as old as really old - like 40!  However, we will take applications from 16-17 year old students who are living at home or boarding with family in Napier and Hastings where they can be supported.

You should have had 3 years of singing lessons, so you know how to read music and are used to singing for a teacher.

Check out the APPLICATION GUIDE.

Fee information is on the Student Resources page.

part time

We offer a programme for people wanting to attend part-time and sit in on classes as observers.

This programme allows mature singers and music teachers refreshen their knowledge and skills during 1- 2 days, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the school.

NOTE: Fee information and applications will be available in September 2022.

Artistic Directors

The School is located in sunny Hawke's Bay at the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in Taradale, Napier.

We highly value this sponsorship from the EIT which allows us to use their attractive campus for classes and rehearsals.

The campus has modern classrooms, a large rehearsal space in the whare (meeting house) and a lecture theatre for in-house concerts and talks. A cafeteria is open for lunch, dinner and snacks, plus there’s plenty of outdoor space for unwinding or studying between classes.

Check out the map for location.

Wellbeing, Health & Safety

Singing School NZ maintains Health and Safety standards as required by New Zealand law and by our campus sponsor, plus performance and accommodation venues.   Students and faculty are informed of these requirements on arrival.  Australian students in particular are given earthquake safety advice, as these occur in Hawke's Bay.

Because the School - and a singing career - is a demanding programme, we give talks and personally advise students on how to take care of their personal physical and mental well-being, including their voice.
